7 Songs to Add to Your Winter Driving Playlist

7 Songs to Add to Your Winter Driving Playlist

Like it or not, winter is here and has taken off its coat to stay for awhile. Enjoy winter driving again with these hand-selected tracks!

1. “California Dreamin'” - The Mamas & The Papas (1965)

“All the leaves are brown and the sky is grey / I went for a walk on a winter’s day / I’d be safe and warm if I was in L.A.”

Colorado is full of people who love the snow, people who hate the snow, and people who don’t mind the snow, but are longingly thinking of Spring. This song tends to appeal to the last two groups as they drive past fields of brown grass and bare trees.

2. “Winter” The Rolling Stones (1973)

“It sure been a hard, hard winter / My feet been draggin' 'cross the ground / And I hope it's gonna be a long, hot summer / And a lotta love will be burnin' bright.”

Another melancholy tune about looking forward to hot weather. Listen to this track as you take a leisurely drive through a back neighborhood on your way home from work. Come June, you will likely look back on those snow-capped mountains in the distance with fondness.

3. “A Wednesday Car” -Johnny Cash (1977)

“Monday Tuesday Thursday and Friday / Are all bad days and the only try day is Wednesday /And my car was made on Wednesday on Wednesday.”

We know two things about this song: 1) Mr. Cash has a high opinion of his car, and 2) he also likes Wednesdays. In fact, it sounds like a lot of people like Wednesdays and that, he says, is the reason his car is of such high quality. *

*Luckily for you, every day is like Wednesday at Quick-Set Auto Glass, so you can call us any day of the week and expect the same high level of service!

4. “Drive” - The Cars (1984)

“You can't go on thinking nothing's wrong, but bye / Who's gonna drive you home tonight?”

This song is a classic and perfect for an impromptu night drive to clear your head. There’s something so refreshing about letting a melody wash over you as you drive past colorful city lights and shadowy trees.

5. “Fast Car” - Tracy Chapman (1988)

“You’ve got a fast car / I want a ticket to anywhere / Maybe we can make a deal / Maybe together we can get somewhere.”

This is a great Friday afternoon commute track. As you’re decompressing from your week, think about the adventures you want to embark upon, now that you have the entire weekend ahead of you.

6. “Song for A Winter’s Night” - Sarah McLachlan (1994)

“If I could know within my heart / That you were lonely too / I would be happy just to hold the hands I love / On this winter's night with you.”

Originally written by Gordon Lightfoot, this haunting cover will tempt you to reenact famous movies involving main characters looking sadly out of snow-filled windows.

Why not drive up to a cozy cabin for the night and watch the snow fall from the warmth of a comfy chair? Also, you can never go wrong with a hot beverage on such a winter’s night.

7. “A Winter’s Tale” - Queen (1995)

“It's winter-fall / Read skies are gleaming, oh / Sea-gulls are flyin' over / Swans are floatin' by.”

Add this song to your adventuring playlist and let the ethereal quality mesh with the winter scenery flashing past your window. Then, grab your favorite meal to go and head on home for one more night of relaxation before your work week begins again. This song pairs perfectly with a warm fire and comfort food.
