Colorado has some of the most picturesque views around during the months of September and October. The changing leaves and rainbows of color against the bright blue mountain sky just can’t be topped! Take your weekends to enjoy the fall views! Here are some of the best fall drives in Colorado.
1. Trail Ridge Road
Head up to Rocky Mountain National Park and see why Trail Ridge is one of the most heavily trafficked roads in Colorado. The views are jaw-dropping and the road’s highest point is just above 12,000 feet. This is a drive to do early though; snow and ice typically forces the road to close fairly early in the season.
2. Maroon Bells
Aspen and Snow Mass are great little towns to visit in the fall, and while you’re there, drive up to the Maroon Bells. These mountain peaks are one of the most photographed landmarks in the state, and when the leaves change, the views are amazing.
3. Guanella Pass
Just an hour from Denver, Guanella Pass near Georgetown is an accessible and gorgeous stretch of road you can bike or drive. Lose yourself in the fall foliage and be sure to bring a camera!
4. San Juan Skyway
Located in the Southwestern part of the state, the San Juan mountains are bursting with beautiful colors in the fall. This is a great place to see aspen trees, and there are many outdoor activities you can find along your drive.
5. Estes Park
It’s no secret that some of the best aspen views can be seen in Estes Park. Hundreds of visitors head up to Estes during September and October to view the leaves. Estes also offers great dining, hiking, and shops, and you can often hear the elk bugle in the fall.
We hope this inspires you to hit the road with the family this fall. Colorado is unsurpassed when it comes to picture-perfect landscapes, so don’t miss out! From all of us here at QuickSet Auto Glass, drive safely out there!
