TL;DR (Too Long; Didn’t Read):
See a streak? It’s time to replace. Squeaking blades? It’s time to replace. Rubber blade falling off? Definitely time to replace. At roughly an average of $20.00 per blade - it’s better to see and be safe while driving than the latter.

Colorado’s dry climate and bipolar weather patterns can really take a toll on your windshield wiper blades. Snow, sun, wind, hail, tornados and whatever else Colorado can throw at us can all cause the rubber strip on your windshield wipers to crack and split. These cracks and splits cause uneven pressure during each swipe of the blade and may reduce the driver’s visibility while on the road.
This is a serious topic. Driving without visibility is dangerous and can cause harm to yourself or others. That is why we recommend changing out your windshield wipers at least twice a year.
Change your windshield wipers once in Fall - after the rubber has cracked from the dry summer heat and ideally before that first big Colorado snow storm.
You also want to change your wipers once in Spring - after they’ve been worn down from snow storms, brown street sludge, and turning your wipers on full speed hoping it will melt the ice on your windshield (just use an ice scraper next time).
Since Colorado has such unpredictable weather, it’s best to check your blades at least once a month. Just give them a quick glance as you’re getting in the car and if you notice something odd, investigate!
Some signs of windshield wiper blades that needs replacing are:
- Fraying edges
- Cracks or splits in the rubber
- Streaks left on windshield
- Scraping or squeaking sounds when turned on
- Limp rubber flopping about
- A skipping blade on the windshield _ _ _ . . . _ _ _ . _ . _ . _ _ _ .
