2019 has come and gone, and it’s almost 2020. We all set New Years Resolutions at one time or another, but have you ever considered changing your driving habits as one of them? From being more mindful on the road to eliminating distractions, here are a few ways you can be a better driver in the coming year.
Drive Respectfully
Attitudes on the road can be contagious. When someone drives aggressively or displays road rage, it’s likely to put the other driver in a bad mood as well. Try to help promote positive energy while driving. Be courteous by allowing drivers space to merge, drive the speed limit, and always use your signal. The smallest courtesies on the road go a long way.
Don’t Drive Distracted
If you’re guilty of talking on the phone or texting while driving, make a resolution to stop. More accidents are caused by distracted driving than any other cause. If you must use your cell phone on the road for navigation, get a car mount or turn on voice navigation.
Take Care of Your Car
Being a more mindful driver includes taking care of your vehicle. Regularly cleaning and servicing your car will help you maintain the lifespan of your vehicle and make you feel more productive.
Practice Good Posture
Being an attentive and alert driver starts with having good posture and visibility in your vehicle. Adjust your seat so you’re sitting upright enough to see well and be aware of times you tend to slouch or loosen up at the wheel. Though it’s good to be comfortable while driving, you don’t want to be too laid back!
Being a better driver is something we all can consider. Breaking bad road habits and being more aware of your surroundings will help everyone be safer on the roads. Happy New Year, and from all of us here at Quick-Set Auto Glass, drive safely out there!
