5 Best Places to View Colorado Leaves this Fall

5 Best Places to View Colorado Leaves this Fall

Not every state is as fortunate as Colorado when it comes to seasons. Luckily for us, each season in Colorado is gorgeous, distinct, and full of color! Obviously, autumn takes the cake for most colorful, and it’s already time to enjoy those beautiful leaves again!

Here are 5 locations we don’t want you to miss!

Trail Ridge Road

Trail Ridge Road in autumn is a photographer's dream! The road itself spans nearly forty-eight miles, so don’t worry about running out of views too quickly. Simply head on up to Estes Park via US-36 W (Normally, this route would utilize US-34, which is closed once more for construction) to experience the entire color spectrum between Estes and Grand Lake. The elevation alone is enough to give you a spectacular bird's-eye view, but that also means that you should plan a few more layers into your outfit - it can get pretty chilly!

Maroon Bells / Aspen

If you're at all interested in Colorado photography, odds are you've seen plenty of pictures of the Maroon Bells in Aspen. You should probably go see them for yourself, though! Highway 82 to Maroon Creek Road will get you where you need to go, although due to their intense popularity, it is always a good idea to give the Maroon Bells Hotline a buzz (970)-945-3319 before you head out, in order to better plan your excursion.

Kebler Pass

Kebler Pass is a part of the West Elk Mountains and can be reached via Gunnison County Road 12. The main attraction for this idyllic spot is undoubtedly the overwhelming abundance of aspen trees! This location is a great choice if what you crave is a slow and easy cruise down an unpaved road, with nothing but nature and photo ops all the way!

Bear Lake Road

Once again, Rocky Mountain National Park graces our list of places to cruise, and for obvious reasons! Bear Lake Road connects Upper Beaver Meadows, which is everything you would ever dream about in Colorado meadows, and Bear Lake, whose surrounding mountain ridges make for a serene and secluded resting spot. Simply set your GPS to Estes Park, and you’re on your way to leafy bliss!

Capitol Creek

The Capitol Creek trail is a gorgeous way to experience all of the autumn beauty that Snowmass has to offer. Located a little way off of Highway 82, this trail is a fairly challenging hike, but has quite a payoff with outstanding views! Capitol Peak can be reached via this trail, but should only be attempted by very seasoned climbers as it can be very dangerous. Luckily, it is just as stunning at a distance and a great subject for picture-taking!

Stay safe out there and Happy #LeafHunting!
